Description

Afanat is the first-line treatment for non-small cell lung cancer. It is a potent and irreversible inhibitor of EGFR. EGFR means epidermal growth factor receptor. When mutations in EGFR arise it consequently leads to uncontrollable growth of the cancerous cells of the lung. Afanat binds to the tyrosine kinase of these growth factors and as a result, blocks their signals. In addition, it stops the autophosphorylation. Therefore this medication stops the uncontrollable cell division and spreading of the cancerous cells.
