Description
Abacavir (Abalam):- It is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1). It is phosphorylated to active metabolites competing for incorporation into viral DNA.
They work to inhibit the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme competitively and act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis. Lamivudine (Abalam):- It is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) with activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) and Hepatitis B (HBV) to disrupt viral DNA synthesis.
It can form active metabolites when phosphorylated, that compete for incorporation into viral DNA. Via DNA incorporation, lamivudine metabolites work to inhibit the activity of the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme and then act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis.
